This week, Letting Agent Today probed InventoryBase MD Steve Rad. The “60 Second Interview” grew in length as Steve demonstrated his passion for the system and made sure all the information about the service came across!

Q: Who are InventoryBase?

We’re a team of software developers and designers that have created and provide a full service product, InventoryBase. The software allows users to manage and produce property inspection and inventory reports.

Q: How long have you been trading?

We’ve been trading as Software developers Radweb for 8 years and launched InventoryBase in March 2012.

Q: How did it all start?

We responded to a need in the industry. When the tenancy laws changed to require landlords to register deposits with a third party, the burden shifted to landlords to prove any claims. Proof came in the form of inventories and check-in and check-out reports. We knew we could build a system to make this process as simple as possible and so InventoryBase was born.

Q: Why choose InventoryBase?

We are genuinely different to other systems on the market as we created and manage the software and deal with customers directly – there are no third parties involved. The benefits of this are numerous including knowledgeable customer service and the ability to adapt parts of the system to a client’s specific needs.

Q: What are your three unique selling points?

Streamlining – InventoryBase allows you to complete the full inventory process easily – including managing your staff and booking appointments, right through to completing an in depth professional report and getting the whole thing signed and delivered whilst still onsite.

Customer Service – We created this platform, we know it inside out and back to front. When customers call us they don’t get a third party trying to find out how to help them. You’ll speak directly to the creators. If they want InventoryBase to do something new they can just let us know – we love a challenge.

Flexibility – the software is scalable to work on any device. It can also be used by a single inspection clerk or by national letting agents, and it can be branded to your own company branding allowing client log-ins through your very own version of the software.

Q: Who do you currently work with?

Anyone that needs to carry out inspections – Independent inventory clerks, property inventory companies, letting agents, housing associations, landlords, universities, franchises and everyone in between!

We have plans tailored to suit various types of businesses, from residential and commercial inspections to full fledged franchises who are wanting to roll out a consistent, centralized system across all of their offices.

Q: How do you overcome your competitors?

By continually evolving. We currently provide end-to-end onsite and online inspections combined with easy administration facilities and our talented in-house team of designers and developers swiftly move the software forward every chance they get. Because of our love of the industry we always strive to stay ahead and anticipate the next step – so InventoryBase is always in front of the competition.

Q: How do you create value for your clients (how do you go above the call of duty)?

We don’t just provide a system to create inventories – because of our passion for the software we go above and beyond by making sure InventoryBase streamlines every stage of the process. We’ve created tools that automate tedious tasks like built in dictionaries, tenant commenting options and content entry. These have been specifically created to free up the clients to get on with the business of running their business.

Because we created the software it is also fully customisable and is the only software on the market that fully integrates with any third party systems the customer is already using or may want to use in the future.

Q: What is your greatest achievement and what made it so special?

Professionally; the day we finished the white label version of InventoryBase was incredible. It is a totally customisable version of the software that allows any client to fully brand their reports, interface and customer log-in areas under their own domain and mailboxes. It opened up InventoryBase to the top players and franchises in the industry and we’ve never looked back.

Personally; putting together an amazing, dynamic team of individuals that get on great with each other, each excelling the company forward and each contributing to what InventoryBase has become today. We spent a lot of time to structure our development and support processes and are continually working on the quality of our code and extendibility of the product. Most importantly we are listening to our customers and meeting their needs head on.
